Bonitz of Georgia Celebrates its 70th Anniversary – A Legacy of Excellence Since 1956
Table of Contents
In 1956, a new company called Bonitz of Georgia opened its doors with a simple goal: to provide superior construction services built on a foundation of trust. Back then, Elvis Presley had just hit the mainstream with “Heartbreak Hotel,” the average American home cost about $11,700, and you could fill up your car’s gas tank for just 23¢ a gallon. Fast forward to 2026, and the world looks a little different. Today’s “mainstream” in music is a digital mosaic of streaming hits and viral trends, that same average home is now valued around $410,800, and gas prices average roughly $2.95 per gallon.
A lot has changed in the world over seven decades, but at Bonitz of Georgia, our core mission hasn’t changed at all. As we celebrate 70+ years of excellence, we’re looking back at how we’ve evolved, how the industry has changed, and why our foundations remain as rock-solid as ever.

70 Years of Construction Technology
In 1956, our “tech stack” consisted of hand-drawn blueprints, slide rules tucked into shirt pockets, and a heavy rotary phone on the foreman’s desk. Accuracy was a matter of steady hands and sharp pencils, as well as double- and triple-checking your work to make sure everything was in order. Today, we trade the slide rules for 3D models and laser scanners that map out projects with millimeter precision. We use drones to get a bird’s-eye view of our commercial roofing and roof deck installations, ensuring that every inch of the project meets our high standards before we even set foot on a ladder.
While the technology has changed, the level of accuracy, commitment to precision, and dedication to high-quality results is still the same. At Bonitz of Georgia, we have technology to make calculations and plans, but we still double and triple-check everything – that’s what sets us apart from the rest. We always have, and always will, focus on quality for our customers.
70 Years of Project Management
Project progress in the fifties was documented with Polaroid cameras and shared via postal mail or long-distance landline calls. If there was a hurdle on-site, it could take days for the right person to see the photo and weigh in to resolve the problems or provide guidance. Now, the story, progress, and collaboration for each and every project is told in real time. Through cloud-based photo libraries, instant video calls, and seamless email coordination, our project teams are connected instantly across state lines, making the process faster and more streamlined. Whether we’re working on an interior finish in Florida or a complex engineered fill project in the Carolinas, our clients see exactly what we see, the moment we see it.
With this advance in technology, the Bonitz team can prioritize communication and collaboration with our clients throughout the project management process. From start to finish, we can easily update our customers with progress reports, photos, renderings, and scans — all with the same focus we’ve had for the past 70 years, to ensure customer satisfaction and high-quality finish projects.

70 Years of Relationships: The More Things Change…
Despite all the high-tech gadgets and digital upgrades, there is one thing that hasn’t changed since 1956: Business is still based on relationships and trust. You can’t automate a handshake or download a reputation, and even back in 1956, relationships weren’t dependent on the technology. Building lasting trust and confidence has always relied on how people are treated and the quality of results. For over 70 years, we’ve been a family-owned and operated team that prioritizes people over paperwork. Today, our focus remains exactly where it started: working closely with our clients to ensure customer satisfaction, delivering high-quality results, and using only the best products for every scope of work.

The Foundation of Our Future
While we take great pride in our history, the Bonitz of Georgia team doesn’t view 70 years as a finish line—we view it as a foundation because we are nowhere near done with building our reputation and our relationships. In an industry as ever-changing as construction, longevity is the ultimate proof of a company’s character and its work. Longevity in this industry means we’ve weathered economic shifts, adapted to wildly changing technological revolutions, and have consistently met the evolving needs of our clients and partners without losing sight of who we are.
As we look forward to the next several decades, our team remains committed to the same process that started it all: a family-owned approach that treats every project as a testament to our name. We will continue to embrace the next wave of innovation, from smarter materials to even more integrated project management, but our greatest investment will always be in the customers we serve. Thank you for trusting us with your construction projects, structures, and design visions since 1956. We’ve been building the Southeast together for 70 years, and we look forward to continuing on with our legacy for many more years to come.
